Are there other locations open late on campus where students can congregate? The library seems to be overrun with people simply here surfing the web as a group or lounging around and talking. Perhaps it could be communicated more efficiently to students that the academic library is not the place for this.

Answer

Students may access portions of Scruggs until 11pm, however, this does not mean that there is computer access. Other computer labs are generally open during the day, but not necessarily publically available. On campus the place with the most computers available for extended periods after 5pm most days is generally the Library.

That said, thank you for your interest in this issue. We will take your suggestion into consideration.

  1. Thankfully I have a laptop, but I'd rather not consistently transport it on to campus from my apartment. I have to though because like the asker stated, it really is a problem with the number of people hanging around listening to music videos on youtube. It makes it hard to study since most of them play the music without headphones so their friends around them can hear the music.
